(a play on the concept of covering a song, except we recreated the album covers themselves)

Inspired by the Berlin-based artist collective Raubdruckerin (pirate printer), I spent a lot of time with my head down, looking for unique textures on the sidewalks of NYC. Every element of this piece is either made from found materials or created from graphite rubbings/direct inking of street hardware.
bottom layer, left side: graphite rubbings of small hardware (grates, water/gas line covers, etc.)
bottom layer, right side: linseed oil on discarded newspaper, screenprinted onto recycled paper shopping bag
top layer: ink hand-rolled onto a manhole cover, printed on discarded clear acetate
